The material of separation element is hydrophobic, after the removal of solids dirt and coalescence of tiny water drops into larger ones by the coalescence element, a small portion will be removed by the separation element, the oil product could pass through without difficulty, but the free water will be blocked out of the element and drained into the water trap.
